How the plan works

Living, dining and kitchen share one continuous space rather than being chopped into separate rooms, which is what makes a house of this width feel connected from end to end instead of like a corridor with doors off it. The primary bedroom sits apart from the two secondary bedrooms and has its own ensuite bathroom and walk-in closet. A separate laundry room keeps the noise out of the living space.

A covered porch runs the front elevation, deep enough to furnish rather than just to look at.

Structure and foundation

Drawn for a slab foundation with footing details included. Single-level construction on slab keeps the build sequence simple and the cost predictable, which is much of why this footprint stays popular. If your site calls for a crawl space or piers, a local engineer can design a different foundation for your site, and your building department may require other changes.
