About this plan
Twin Gable is a single-storey Scandinavian barn of 2,045 square feet on an 81 by 39 foot footprint, four bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms, organised under two vaulted gables rather than one. These scandinavian barn house plans come as a complete PDF set.
Why two gables
Splitting the roof into twin gables gives the building a waist. It breaks up what would otherwise be a very long single ridge, and internally it separates the two living areas without needing a wall between them, because each one sits under its own vault. The result is a house that reads as two connected volumes instead of one long shed.
How the plan works
Between kitchen and dining there is a pantry and a servery. The servery is the detail worth noticing: it is a benchtop you can leave loaded without it being part of the kitchen, which is what keeps an open plan tidy when you are hosting.
A wood-burning fireplace anchors the main living area. There is a study nook, a utility room and a two-car garage.
