About this plan
A 30 by 50 foot cabin under a single-slope shed roof, 1,500 square feet with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus an optional 215 square foot loft. The 30x50 shed roof cabin plans arrive as a PDF plan set.
The lean shed roof
One slope, running the full 30 foot width. Inside, the ceiling rises from eight feet at the low wall to fifteen at the high one, so the living space gets the height and the glazing while the bedrooms stay at a comfortable, cheap-to-heat eight feet.
It is also the simplest roof there is to frame. No ridge board, no valleys, no hip rafters, and every rafter cut identically, which cuts both the labour and the scope for error.
The optional loft
A 215 square foot loft is drawn as an option under the high side. Framed in, it is a fourth sleeping space or an office; left out, the living space keeps its full height. Both versions are in the set, so it is a decision you can make on site.
Practicalities
A large front deck runs along the tall elevation, where the glazing is. There is dedicated washer and dryer space.
Slab, pier and crawl space foundations are all included. An editable CAD file is available as an add-on if you intend to alter the layout.

Before you build
Permit requirements depend on your location, site and proposed construction. Your building department determines which drawings, calculations and professional approvals are required, and local review may identify changes needed to the plans. Some departments ask for an engineer’s stamp or a foundation designed around your own soil report; arrange these with a local engineer.
