About this plan
A 20 by 28 foot A-frame giving 690 square feet over two levels, with two bedrooms and one bathroom. The master takes the upper floor and opens onto a balcony in the gable. These 20x28 a-frame plans are delivered as a PDF plan set.
The upper master
Putting the master at the top of an A-frame is what the shape is for. The room gets the full height of the ridge, the balcony sits in the glazed gable, and the floor is open to the living space below, so the volume runs continuously from the ground floor up through the roof.
Open to below also means the fireplace downstairs heats both levels by convection, which on a cabin this size can be most of your heating.
A separate dining room
An A-frame with a separate dining room is unusual. Most put a table at the end of the living space and leave it at that. Having a room for it means the main space is not permanently half-occupied by a table nobody is sitting at.
Ceilings and glazing
Eight foot ceilings are held on both levels, so neither floor is compromised by the roof pitch, and the windows are large throughout.
