The great room

A 26 foot vault is not a decorative gesture. It changes the acoustics, the light and the way the upper level relates to the floor below, and it is why this plan puts the kitchen island at 15 feet long: a normal island looks lost under that volume.

A double-sided fireplace divides the living area without closing it off, so you get two distinct spaces out of one room and fire visible from both.

Sleeping and working

The primary bedroom is on the main level, so the everyday routine happens without stairs and the upper floor belongs to everyone else. Five and a half bathrooms across four bedrooms means every bedroom is effectively ensuite with a half bathroom left over for guests.

A separate home office is drawn in rather than carved out of a bedroom.
