These 60x40 barndominium plans come as a complete PDF set. Ashwood is a two-storey barndominium on a 60 by 40 foot footprint, giving 2,296 square feet with four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The 40 foot depth is the practical limit for clear-span barn framing, which is what allows the open core below.

How the plan works

The ground floor is open across kitchen, dining and living, with the great room available flat or vaulted. Vaulting it opens the volume that makes a barndominium feel like one rather than a rectangular house with metal siding, and both versions are drawn.

The kitchen has a walk-in pantry, which matters more in an open plan than in a closed one, because there is nowhere to hide small appliances otherwise. Laundry has its own room.

Outdoor space

A wraparound porch covers the front and one side. A separate rear grilling porch sits off the kitchen, so cooking traffic does not cross the porch people are sitting on.

Structure and foundation

Drawn for a slab foundation with footing details in the set. Slab and clear-span framing are what keep the cost per square foot on a barndominium below a conventional build of the same size.
